We are looking for an experienced Technical Officer to work within our Faculty of Engineering, Computing & the Environment (ECE) at Kingston University.

You will be responsible for managing technical labs (Civil & Construction, Engineering, Aerospace) across 2 campuses, including organising the co-ordination and supervision of a team of technicians and overall operations.

You will provide engineering and technical expertise in support of a number of workshops, including a hands-on role in supporting practical sessions, in relation to teaching, projects, research, and commercial activities. You will enjoy working with people and will contribute to the planning, resourcing, capital programs, risk management, quality assurance and marketing of ECE activities including procurement, order placement and monitoring.

The Person

You will need to be an experienced Technical Lab Manager, with good IT and planning skills. You will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual, ready to work with a team and contribute to the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the faculty’s laboratories. You will contribute to the learning experience of students by providing guidance on the use of resources and promoting an excellent understanding of laboratory practices and relevant H&S issues.

You will be able to liaise with external organisations and suppliers and you will possess strong interpersonal, written and communication skills with excellent organisational and analytical skills too.

You will be qualified to Degree, HNC or equivalent/higher professional qualification in Aeronautical, Construction, Mechanical engineering or a related subject or have experience of managing a team of engineering technicians. A strong working background of technical and managerial skills is essential.

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £48,251 per annum.
