Senior Technician - Concrete and Civil Engineering
As a Senior Technician – Concrete and Civil Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in supporting practical lab sessions, research projects, and consultancy activities. This hands-on role requires an expert in managing state-of-the-art lab facilities and delivering technical excellence to ensure the smooth operation of all laboratory activities.
Your contribution will be critical in:
Supporting Learning and Teaching: Overseeing multiple student groups and sessions simultaneously, particularly during peak periods, to ensure all participants are adequately supervised and supported.
Ensuring Safety and Compliance: Upholding rigorous safety standards, maintaining equipment in optimal condition, and ensuring PPE compliance to safeguard all users.
Managing Equipment and Resources: Performing regular maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of sophisticated lab equipment to prevent downtime and interruptions.
Enabling Research Excellence: Assisting with experiment setups, managing data acquisition systems, and providing expert technical guidance to support high-quality research outputs.
Driving Innovation: Introducing innovative techniques and methodologies to improve lab practices, enhancing the educational and research experience for students and staff alike.
Forklift driving experience preferable.
The Person
The successful candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and good organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workload.
You will be able to work as an individual or as a team member and have the ability to make and maintain accurate records. You will also possess a reasonable level of IT skills and have good analytical and problem solving skills.

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £38,613 per annum.
