Senior Lecturer - Specialist Dyslexia Tutor
In this role, you will join our team of committed academics who enable students to transform lives through their professional practice in early years, primary and secondary school settings. You will lead the development, organisation and delivery of dyslexia knowledge enhancement activities for staff, students and school-based mentors in early years, primary and secondary education, working with the Lead for Teacher Education, the Portfolio and Innovation Development Lead and the sponsoring charity, Driver Youth Trust. The ambition of this role is to improve outcomes for our students, create a more inclusive environment for staff and students, and culminate in better outcomes for children and young people presenting with dyslexia and literacy difficulties in schools.
The Person
You are an inspirational educator who is passionate about inclusion. You have in-depth knowledge and understanding of dyslexia and literacy difficulties and have a proven track-record as an educator, teacher and/or practitioner in this area. You are determined to make an impact on policy and practice in the field of dyslexia and inclusion. You are currently, or keen to become, a research-engaged academic. You will contribute new knowledge to the field of inclusive education through your research and scholarly activity and, in turn, enhance students' learning and professional practice. You are also someone who relishes the opportunity to lead new and innovative developments in the Department.
By the end of your probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.
