Senior Co-ordinator (Assessment, Regulations & Appeals)
This is an exciting opportunity to step into the role of Senior Co-ordinator (Assessment, Regulations & Appeals) on a full-time fixed term basis, which is available due to maternity and internal secondment backfill. As one of a team of five Senior Co-ordinators (ARA), you will provide crucial support for colleagues across the institution in relation to assessment and regulatory frameworks as well as supporting one of our four faculties as a primary point of contact. You will work closely with the Faculty on their assessment schedule, identifying and delivering training, staff development and guidance materials. You will also take the lead in investigating and drafting responses to stage 1 academic appeals and supporting the scrutiny of assessment board paperwork. The role will require you to work closely with colleagues across the institution but in particular with colleagues in the Course and Student Administration Team and the Dean for the Faculty you will be supporting.
The Person
This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to further develop their experience of working in assessment, regulation and student casework. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in this area, possibly within the context of a course and student administration area or within an academic registry function. You will have knowledge and experience of working with academic appeals procedures as well as a good understanding of mitigation, academic misconduct, data integrity, assessment boards and other assessment-related procedures. You will be enthusiastic, proactive and enjoy problem solving. You will also thrive on fostering good working relationships with colleagues across the institution in order to develop a culture of continuous improvement and enjoy contributing to a strong team approach to work.
Directorate/Function
The Academic Services Directorate includes Research & Impact, Knowledge Exchange, Academic Registry, Quality Assurance and Enhancement, the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre, Corporate Affairs and Development, Alumni Relations & Engagement (DARE). Collectively the Directorate supports academics in their research and KE activities and supports some of the University’s governance and decision-making committees, maintains academic regulations, develops and implements academic policies, oversees the quality and standards of academic provision and leads the development of education practices across the University.
The Directorate is responsible for stimulating cutting edge research, impact and knowledge exchange and supporting a vibrant community of graduate research students, to increase the volume, impact and visibility of our research and business activities. We actively liaise with Faculties and researchers to support and develop research activities across all disciplines and provide related training and development opportunities. We foster interdisciplinary working to promote, advance and share knowledge with the overall aim of securing new revenue sources and contributing to regional prosperity. Our goal is to foster and sustain a vibrant research culture in which our researchers and research students can flourish.

This is a full time, fixed term position available until 30 September 2027 with a starting salary of £39,407 per annum.
This post is available as a result of internal secondment and it is expected that you will hold it for the full period. However, should the substantive post-holder return to work earlier, then this appointment will be terminated, subject to a notice period of one month.
