Practice Education (Placement Activity) accounts for up to 50% of a student’s course when studying a professional degree and is imperative to ensuring our students have the relevant opportunity to gain experiences and the required skills for their chosen profession. Based at the Faculty’s Kingston Hill site, you will provide professional administrative support for the efficient and seamless delivery of Practice Education Support services in the Faculty with a focus on Education placements. 

The Practice Placement team’s role is to provide high quality, efficient and effective placement administrative support for students, academics and placement providers, as well as providing in-depth advice to fellow members of the placement team on placement processes.  

The Placement Administrator's role is also to provide administrative support for a wide range of duties in support of the Placement Administrative process, sharing responsibility for the efficient and seamless delivery of placement support.  

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with Placement Team Leader to ensure that all processes relating to placements are undertaken efficiently and effectively and are communicated effectively to colleagues, placement providers and students. 
  • Manage a cohort of student’s placements, working alongside other placement administrators and coordinators to organise, release, and respond to the cohort regarding placement activity.
  • Act as a first point of contact and respond to enquiries by telephone, in writing and by email from students, academic and administrative colleagues, external partners and other enquirers
  • Work with other placement administrators to support the electronic portfolios (eMORA/ePAD) for Nursing and Midwifery students during placement.

Other Responsibilities 

  • Respond to enquiries face-to-face, by telephone, in writing and by email from students, academic and administrative colleagues, external partners and other enquirers. 
  • Make a positive and active contribution to regular team meetings, service and process reviews, and other faculty initiatives and developments as requested.  
  • As a member of the Practice Education Support Team, work flexibly and provide cover and support for others where requested, including working across the different Faculty sites as necessary. 
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Faculty and University colleagues and external partners. 
  • Actively participate in ongoing professional development activities as requested.  
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with your Grade as requested by the Practice Education Support Manager or Placement Team Leaders.

The Person

We are searching for an experienced, enthusiastic, proactive and organised individual to join the Practice Placement team. You will be line managing a team and supporting our placement activity work, whether this be refining processes, using your excellent communication and negotiation skills to support placement allocations, or using your analytical skills to process documentation on behalf of students in support of their placements.

You will need to have an excellent standard of ICT and literacy skills, be able to work independently to deadlines, and be able to communicate appropriately with internal and external stakeholders. You will be an effective team leader, and work across the wider team to support shared aims and goals in line with the University values.

Directorate/Function

The Practice Placement Team, within the Student Development and Graduate Success Department (SDGS) offers wide ranging practice-based education and training programmes across Nursing, Health Science, Midwifery, Social Care and Education which are informed by high quality and impactful research.

We have a successful track record in public and service user engagement to develop knowledge transfer partnerships and other enterprise activities.

The Student Directorate’s professional administration and support teams work together to ensure business and support services are effective, efficient and sustainable in meeting the needs of our students, staff, stakeholders and areas of work.

Further information

This is a part-time, fixed term position until 30 September 2026 (18.5 hours per week) with a starting salary of £14,739 per annum. This role could be offered as a secondment opportunity.
