This is a career-defining opportunity to inspire the next generation of professionals in a vibrant academic environment of Sport and Exercise Sciences. Join our dynamic Department of Applied and Human Sciences as a Lecturer, collaborate with a team of experts, contribute to course delivery and administration and engage in professional consultancy. You will lead and assess modules across Levels 3-6, specialising in health and exercise physiology, and support research methods in sport, nutrition, and exercise. Your role includes delivering practical laboratory sessions using advanced technologies to equip students with real-world skills. You will also supervise undergraduate projects, guiding students through their research journey, and we encourage you to pursue your research initiatives, developing proposals for external funding and producing outputs for publication.

The Person

A PhD in Sport/Exercise Physiology or a closely related field, a BSc in Sport Science or a relevant subject, and prior experience lecturing undergraduate students are essential. A strong research and/or consultancy record in the discipline and BASES accreditation are desirable.

Your core motivation will be to go above and beyond in delivering exceptional teaching and student support. With expertise in health and exercise physiology, you will promote integrated professional practice, equipping students with practical knowledge for their future careers.

Committed to continuous improvement, you will critically evaluate your work, build strong networks across private and public sectors, and collaborate to enhance the Faculty’s reputation in higher education and occupational circles.

Applicants must meet Kingston University’s learning and teaching standards. By the end of probation, you must achieve the relevant UKPSF recognition if not already obtained—either through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching programme for new lecturers or the Kingston Academic Practice Standards framework for experienced educators.

The Faculty

The Faculty offers wide ranging practice-based education and training programmes across nursing, health science, midwifery, social care and teaching which are informed by high quality and impactful research.

We have a successful track record in public and service user engagement and developing knowledge transfer partnerships and other enterprise activities.

The Faculty’s professional administration and support teams work together to ensure business and support services are effective, efficient and sustainable in meeting the needs of our students, staff, stakeholders and areas of work.
