We are looking for an Hourly Paid Lecturer to provide support for teaching in Ecology and conservation. You can expect approximately five hours per week on average plus associated preparation time. All taught sessions to be delivered at our Penrhyn Road Campus and local field settings.

The Person

The successful candidate must have a Doctorate in a related field or an equivalent professional qualification and be able to teach Environmental Science. You will be able to demonstrate teaching competency in field and laboratory settings. You should also be able to contribute to teaching quantitative research methods and supervise undergraduate and post graduate students.

It would be desirable to have a relevant level of UKPSF recognition and an accreditation from a relevant professional body. It would also be expected that you are developing your research portfolio with regard to income generation and/or publications. Experience of managing undergraduate modules and working in a multidisciplinary environment would be desirable.

You must have excellent communication skills and team working experience and be able to independently project manage set tasks and commitments to fixed deadlines.

The Faculty

The successful candidate will be joining the Department of Geography, Geology and the Environment. We actively promote our University core values of ambition, innovation, inclusivity and entrepreneurship in all our teaching and research endeavours, aligning with the University goal to maintain an outstanding reputation. Our TEF triple-Gold standard courses have a proven track record for teaching excellence.

The Department sits within the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and the Environment and here there are also many opportunities to collaborate with colleagues, e.g. climate resilience, the built environment and the integration of Artificial Intelligence.
