Sports Ground Apprentice
This a two-year fixed term position.
Under the supervision of the Sports Grounds Manager, the Sports Ground Apprentice will assist in maintaining sports pitches, tennis courts, frontages, perimeters, grassed and planted areas to the standards required, making those facilities available for use by students, staff and members of the wider community.
The skills required to become a competent grounds person will be acquired whilst working at the sports ground. The postholder will be given the necessary time to study and complete apprenticeship assignments. By the end of the apprenticeship, the postholder will know when, how and why the range of maintenance operations are carried out.
The Person
The Sports Ground Apprentice position at the University’s Tolworth Court sportsground will typically take 24 months to complete their education and training.
Entry requirements for the Sports Ground Apprentice role will typically be a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grades 9-4 (including Maths and English and Science) or other equivalent vocational qualifications. If the successful applicant is without the above levels of qualifications, they will have to ensure they achieve level 1 in English and Maths as part of their Apprenticeship.
Applicants should be willing to learn, take instructions, have a strong work ethic including pride in work, and be punctual at all times.

Tolworth Court sportsground is part of the Sports & Active Lifestyles section.
Sports & Active Lifestyles is also responsible for the gym at Penrhyn Road campus, sports amenities at Kingston Hill, as well as programmes like sports volunteering, recreational activities and supporting our high-performance students.
Sports & Active Lifestyles is one section within Student Life, Health and Wellbeing department. Other sections include Accommodation, Counselling, Disability & Mental Health, Student Funds and Money Advice.

This is a full time, fixed term position for 2 years, with a starting salary of £27,456 per annum.
